At the beginning of my service, I worked a lot in a rural community called Chaguite, but now the majority of my work in the campo is in a smaller community called La Cruz.
So this time, to get to La Cruz, I crossed through Trapichito. You can see the damage that the rains and winds have done to the school letrine, where the tree fell on top of it.
When I took this back road to La Cruz, I had to cross a quebrada, or river.
Fortunately, as soon as I got back to the main road, I went right to the well and a woman helped me wash off my shoes and feet.
La Cruz is fortunately closer than Chaguite, however the campo bus doesn't pass it. Usually when I go there, I take a cab from Yalaguina to the entrada of the communities, where the dirt road starts. From there, I walk the 45 min to La Cruz. It's a pretty beautiful walk as you can see. Although on the day I took these pictures, I was lucky to catch a ride in the campo bus to a neighboring community's school, and then walked the 15-20min across from there.
I love this post, Jen! It is such a great peak into your general experience!
